With the opening of an office and exhibition space at St. Alban-Vorstadt 35 in Basel, a new chapter starts for Barr & Ochsner in June 2026.

The location is not only intended as an extension of the firm’s existing activities, but also as a place for provenance research – an area that has gained increasing importance within the international art market in recent years.

At the same time, the new space is also intended to remain a place for exchange and engagement with art. In collaboration with Galerie WOS, smaller, thematically focused exhibitions are planned on a regular basis.

To mark the opening of the new premises, a selection of significant works will be presented, tracing the development of American Abstract Expressionism from the movements of European Cubist painting. The exhibition brings together works by Pablo Picasso, Louis Marcoussis, Albert Gleizes, Jean Crotti and Mario Sironi with works by American artists such as Franz Kline, Mark Tobey and Sam Francis. This creates a fascinating dialogue between the European avant-garde and post-war American art.

The open house during ArtBasel will take place on June 19 and 20, 2026., while the official opening will be on July 2nd, 2026, from 5 to 8pm.
